Why Work at a Standing Desk
As sitting has been dubbed “the new smoking,” it’s increasingly important to incorporate more movement into your everyday life. One of the best ways to do that is to swap sitting for working at a standing desk. Spending more of your workday standing could reduce the risk of back and neck pain as well as obesity, diabetes, cancer and heart disease.
In fact, the flow on effects of switching from sitting to standing in the office are beneficial for both the employee and employer. these include:
less time off work
decreased lost income
and much more
A variety of standing desks are on the market today. The advantage of an adjustable standing desk is you can stand for half of your workday and sit for the other half.
Consider alternating between sitting and standing every half hour to hour. To add more variety, try marching or jogging in place or even dancing to your favourite tunes while you work. You might be surprised by how much energy you’ll have by standing more!
